MIND HEAD is a ground-level publishing outlet, established 2012 in Melbourne, Australia. Currently creating out of Torquay, Victoria.
Our drive has always been to carefully create meaningful time capsules with respect and love. We cover what's around us – from core graffiti to off the beaten track travel stories, artistic disciplinary practice and love for life. We take a firm stance in regards to both the quality of the contents and the production of our releases. No shortcuts! In a world where a lot is fleeting, we are endeavouring to capture some important moments that will stand the test of time. All our products are made in Australia.
Mind Head’s inaugural publication series was the six-part graffiti magazine, CRUNCH TIME 2012-2016. Originally born out of data anxiety – the fear of hard drive failure – and though not completely comprehensive by any means – we were never ever trying to please everyone nor cover everything (that’s impossible) – Crunch Time catalogues some of the most important players in Australia’s most unsung and purist art movement. All issues sold out.
LOST ON EARTH 2016-2021 had to be made, the love of road yarns was simply too strong to ignore. When your mates come home from a mission and you get in the cypher over a beer or whatever, that’s the juice. Over the years, the energy of the series has kind of took on a life of its own – shaped by the offerings of the people who contributed to its pages. From childhood memories to fiction, photographic exposes to poems – we published artist features in each issue too. In mid-2022 we decided to put the series to sleep, more so to let it age in the basement. 8 issues, issues 1-7 sold out.
MIND HEAD – A DECADE OF CONSIDERED DOCUMENTATION 300 page book. 2022 marked a decade of publishing for us and to commemorate we compiled a selection of stories and sections from all out publications to-date along with the comprehensive history of MIND HEAD and a graphic index. We were over the moon to launch this one at our spiritual home, Revolver Upstairs.
MIND HEAD (self-titled series) 2022 - current. In late 2022 we launched a new self titled series, MIND HEAD. A more honed-in, up-sized exploration of all our publications to-date. Issue 1 released in November 2022, followed by issue 2 in May 2023, and issue 3 in January 2024. Issue 3 was launched at the Carhartt WIP store in Little Bourke Street in Melbourne on Febraray 7th 2024.
We’ve also created a bunch of one-off publications over the years – 1 PUNCH 2017, BRAIN FREEZE 2018, WET PAINT 2019, BLASTOFF 2019, UNTITLED 2021, COOL INK 2022, PRESSURE 2023.
